Garden Play
Each nursery has its own garden, with areas fenced off specifically for babies. Garden play is throughout the year so we ask parents and guardians to leave a pair of boots and raincoat and hood clearly labelled at the nursery.
For the winter and the summer the nurseries have covered external areas which shield them from the rain and winds.
There are special shades in the garden which give a 95% UVB protection from the sun which enables the children to play in safety.
The gardens all have areas of safer surfacing where climbing apparatus is housed.
In line with government requirements each nursery divides its garden into five of the six Learning and Development areas. The sixth area (personal, social and emotional development) happens naturally throughout the others.
