Our History:
The Jancett Group of Day Nurseries commenced in 1968 at the home of Chris and John Pritchard. The need for quaity day care was very quickly established and Gaytime Day Nursery in Wallington was opened in 1969.
The nurseries grew in popularity as Pollyanna Day Nursery in Carshalton opened followed by Jancett Day Nursery, each filling a need required by the local community.
Jancett Baby Unit heralded the next era, the popularity of which surpassed expectations. Startel Day Nursery became the fourth day nursery in the happy busy group.
Pollyanna then opened a small baby unit to assist with the demand at Jancett’s Baby Unit and Startel followed suit in April 1996 when they opened their own Baby Unit.
In 2005 we opened a small nursery and baby unit in the grounds of Bishopsford Community School in the London Borough of Merton.
Our Vision Statement:
Our ambition is to lay the basis of quality care and learning in children and young people to enable increased knowledge and development to be continuous throughout their life.
Our Childcare Philosophy:
The importance of the care and education of babies and young children has at last been realised in our society, yet at the Jancett Group, since 1969 the care and education of our little ones has always been of prime importance.
When babies and young children are introduced into our day nurseries, they have already developed their own unique characteristics, therefore they bring with them their own imaginative, creative and exploratory skills. These skills need to be developed if we are going to give children the opportunity to learn and succeed in life.
At Jancett, we understand the importance that, to learn about thw world around them, children require the right materials to play, explore and investigate. They need to develop socially and emotionally, creating friendships and relationships with both children and adults. They also need the opportunity to develop the thought process, which promotes language and communication skills.
To enable this to happen, toys, equipment, staff, educational frameworks and care routines need to be planned and balanced to meet the individual needs of the child.
We actively encourage applications from both men and women into the childcare and Playwork profession and are positive about equality, diversity and inclusion.
Inspections:
The nurseries and baby units are regularly inspected by Ofsted Inspectors, Environmental Health Officers, Fire Officers, Health and Safety Officers and Quality Assurance Inspectors.
We carry the Investors in People kite mark, the NDNA Quality Kitemark, Matrix and ISO 9001.
Each nursery has a booking portfolio which shows our Operational Plan and all our Policies and Procedures.
