Our Outdoor Space

At Jancett we understand the importance of outdoor play and follow the government guidelines on allowing children to learn and play in a safe, secure outdoor classroom environment.

To enable continuation of learning and play from indoors to outdoors:

• Each nursery has its own garden, with areas fenced off specifically for babies.

• Garden play is throughout the year so we ask parents and guardians to leave a pair of boots and a raincoat and hood clearly labelled at the nursery (Remember the fun of a puddle?)

• There is shade in parts of the garden which give a 95% UVB protection from the sun which enables the children to play in safety

• The gardens all have areas of safer surfacing where climbing apparatus is housed.

• In line with government requirements each nursery divides its garden into five of the six Learning and    Development areas. The sixth area (personal, social and emotional development) happens naturally throughout the others.

• Rabbits and guinea pigs can generally be also found caged in the nursery gardens.
